Who we are
The St. Edward Bookshop and Reading Room is a ministry rooted in the life of the Saint Euphemia Orthodox Christian Church in Rockland, Maine. While we exist to serve the parish community, we also open our doors to the wider Midcoast community, welcoming all who are curious about, learning from, or growing within the Orthodox Christian faith.
Our aim is simple: to provide spiritual resources and meaningful opportunities for learning, study, and reflection, helping individuals deepen their faith and their life in the Orthodox Church. Whether through books, shared study, conversation, or pilgrimage, St. Edward’s seeks to be a place where faith is nurtured thoughtfully and patiently.
The St. Edward Bookshop and Reading Room is entirely volunteer-run, sustained by the generosity of our parishioners and the broader community. Everything you see here—every book on the shelf, every open hour, every program offered—is made possible by people freely giving their time, talents, and care in service to the Church.
Oversight of the St. Edward Bookshop & Reading Room is provided by an official board, which maintains the volunteer committee and helps guide both the mission and day-to-day operations of the space. The board is co-directed by Presbytera Christine and Porphyria, who may be contacted through the St. Edward email at
St.edwardreadingroom@gmail.com.
Together, we strive to make St. Edward’s a place of welcome, learning, and growth—rooted in the Orthodox tradition and shared in love with our community.
